Top 10 Spirits Bottle Closure Suppliers in the USA

The US spirits market runs on a closure supply chain that looks nothing like the cap on the bottle. Cork rooms in Modesto and Santa Rosa, capsule plants in Fairfield, T-top lines in North Carolina, and full-line packagers in Chicago and Cleveland — therefore the closure decision for a whiskey, gin or vodka programme usually comes down to a shortlist of specialists, not a single vendor. If you are building that shortlist, this is the map.

Ten suppliers made the list. We ranked them by fit to spirits closure programmes — cork depth, bar-top and capsule capability, US manufacturing or stocking, and verifiable operations — rather than by revenue. MOQ and lead time appear as “on request” where a company does not publish them; ask each candidate directly, using the five questions at the end of this guide. Before you send a single RFQ, it is still worth knowing how to vet a zamac cap manufacturer before you send an RFQ — geography changes the logistics, not the checks. And if your programme leans toward metal zamak caps and stoppers, our guide on sourcing custom zamac wine and spirits closures covers the specification side.

Ten US spirits bottle closure suppliers across cork, capsule, bar-top and packaging hubs

1. Guala Closures — Alessandria, Italy, with North American operations

Founded in 1954, Guala ranks among the world’s largest closure manufacturers, with 39 production facilities, a sales network covering more than 100 countries, revenue above €923 million in 2025 and more than 5,000 employees. Its Above Spirits range builds tamper-evident and non-refillable systems alongside bar-top and T-bar closures and ROPP screwcaps, and the company strengthened its Americas presence in October 2026 with the acquisition of G3 Enterprises assets. Best for: large spirits programmes that need industrial scale, security features and decoration depth.

2. Vinventions USA — Zebulon, NC

Founded in 1999 and formerly known as Nomacorc, Vinventions USA manufactures synthetic closures at its Zebulon, North Carolina plant, while commercial leadership sits in San Diego. The group employs over 550 people and runs production in the USA, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Argentina, South Africa and China. Its portfolio spans Nomacorc synthetic corks, Vintop screwcaps, SÜBR micro-natural corks and Ohlinger natural corks, plus the Wine Quality Solutions analysers wineries use to manage oxygen. Best for: wine-led programmes where oxygen management and closure consistency drive the decision.

3. DIAM Bouchage / G3 Enterprises — France + Modesto, CA

DIAM Bouchage, a French company in the Pyrénées-Orientales and the closure division of Oeneo, produces 2 billion closures a year and exports 78% of them to more than 85 countries, with 653 employees across plants in France, Spain and Portugal. The range covers DIAM for still wines, Mytik for sparkling wines and Altop for spirits, and because the patented DIAMANT process cleans cork with supercritical CO₂, the company guarantees releasable TCA at or below the measurable limit. G3 Enterprises — the Gallo family’s packaging and logistics company in Modesto — holds exclusive North American distribution for DIAM spirits corks. Best for: premium programmes when cork taint risk and permeability consistency decide the spec.

4. Cork Supply USA — Portugal + US operations

Cork Supply builds natural and technical corks, screwcaps and bar-top closures from Portuguese production, and the Harv 81 Group now holds Certified B Corporation status with a score of 89.3. Its X100 system screens 100% of natural corks non-invasively, the DS100 guarantee works lot by lot, and the GreenLine closure uses 100% post-industrial cork waste with 62% less energy than a standard natural cork. The Talis line covers spirits bartops. Best for: brands that want natural cork with a documented taint guarantee per lot.

5. M.A. Silva USA — Santa Rosa, CA

Established in 2000 by cork industry veterans Neil Foster and Manuel Alves Silva Sr. — founder of M.A. Silva Portugal, a vertically integrated cork group founded in 1972 — M.A. Silva USA supplies premium natural corks and glass bottles to North American wineries and distilleries. The group produced over 600 million corks in 2023 for more than 8,000 clients, and its NOBELTECH platform combines sensory extraction, AI-based grading with 12 inspections per cork, and thermal desorption. Best for: cork and bottle from one accountable partner, with per-stopper traceability.

6. Lafitte Cork & Capsule — France + US, preserving wines since 1918

Lafitte has produced cork closures since 1918 and runs a US arm in Napa, California for North American programmes. The group produces 350 million corks and 1.8 billion capsules a year across 11 facilities, and the Napa operation stocks cork grades, lengths and washes for lot selection. The range covers natural corks, sparkling corks, colmated and micro-agglomerate stoppers, bar-top closures, and capsules in PVC, PETg, polylam, aluminium and tin, with the PerfectGO individual TCA analysis on top. Best for: traditional cork programmes that also need capsules and bar-tops from one source.

7. Crealis USA — Fairfield and Ukiah, CA

Founded in 1992 as Maverick Enterprise and now part of the Crealis Group — eight brands and 15 production sites worldwide — Crealis USA manufactures capsules, wirehoods and bar tops for wine, distilled spirits and specialty food from its Fairfield, Ukiah and Santa Rosa sites. Its catalogue spans tin, polylaminate, PVC and PET capsules, sparkling wirehoods and T-bar closures, while rotogravure printing and forming stay in-house. The company calls itself the only US producer of tin capsules for premium wines, and Cork Supply now distributes Maverick screwcaps under a partnership. Best for: decoration-led spirits packs where the capsule carries the brand.

8. Paulson Supply — Modesto, CA

Paulson Supply manufactures T-Top corks in the USA from food-grade thermoplastic elastomer, with tops in wood, plastic and aluminium, and also offers printing, laser etching, staining, embossing and colour matching. The team joined the first synthetic T-top production run in 1995, the company injection-moulds its shanks without glue, holds more than 40 patents, and has belonged to the American Distilling Institute since 2008. Best for: craft distilleries and small brands that want US-made T-tops with decoration options.

9. Berlin Packaging (including O.Berk) — Chicago, IL

Berlin Packaging calls itself the world’s largest hybrid container and packaging supplier: 100+ locations, 2,200+ employees and 1,700+ suppliers, with dedicated wine and spirits practices and in-house design, decorating and warehousing. Its O.Berk operation also supplies premium bottles, closures and capsules to the spirits trade. Best for: brands that want stock bottles, closures and decoration managed through one supply chain.

10. Kaufman Container — Cleveland, OH, established 1910

A family-owned packaging supplier since 1910, Kaufman Container stocks and customises glass, plastic and metal containers, closures, dispensing systems and shrink bands, runs in-house decorating, and also serves the craft wine, beer and spirits trades. Its child-resistant line covers push-down-and-turn, pictorial and brandable caps plus tamper-evident styles. Best for: startups and small brands that need stock closures, custom moulds and decorating under one roof.

The 2026 reshuffle: what moved on this map

The US closure map moved twice in 2026, and both moves change who answers the phone. In February, Guala Closures bought Vinventions’ Rosarito screwcap plant in Mexico — a site that opened in 2024 with capacity above 200 million closures a year. Then, in October, Guala agreed to acquire most of the production equipment from G3 Enterprises’ aluminium wine screwcap business, and it will install the new lines at Rosarito while G3 continues as a distributor. In August 2026, G3 also filed a WARN notice for 66 permanent layoffs at its Modesto wine screwcap operation, citing demand contraction and rising costs, while the plant stays open for other closures. Therefore, read the pattern this way: US closure manufacturing consolidates into Mexico-backed capacity, distribution stays local, and distillery-side custom work still comes from specialists and overseas die-casters.

US suppliers versus importing: the honest comparison

Proximity is a real advantage — short shipping, stock availability, easy audits, no import logistics. It is also a price position, and the US closure industry works mainly in cork, aluminium and plastic rather than zinc alloy. The table below is the comparison buyers should hold in their heads when a US quote lands.

US spirits closure suppliers compared with an Asian zamak factory on cost, MOQ and documents
DimensionUS closure supplierAsian zamak factory (e.g. GCX)
Closure materialsCork, aluminium, plastic, tin — but zamak stays rareZamak 3#, zinc alloy, with cork, silicone or PU liners
Cost levelPremium, because labour and compliance sit inside the priceTypically the most competitive at volume, so the gap shows at scale
Stock availabilityStrong for standard closures and capsules, though custom work waits for a runCustom programmes; stock formats in production
MOQOn request; distributors often stock low, so small brands start fastPer design; discussed case by case
SamplingEngineering-led, often on-site, so feedback loops stay short~15 days sampling window, DFM feedback in ~2 working days
Mass production lead timeOn request; before you compare, ask for the three numbers separately25–30 days standard
Compliance documentsUS regulation familiarity when the product stays domesticFAI / PPAP / RoHS / material certs / control plan / COC — so the pack travels
ToolingOn requestWe charge it once — however, reorders and spare moulds carry no second mould charge
Best fitCork and capsule programmes when stock speed decidesVolume zamak programmes when cost decides

None of this makes one side “better” — it makes the shortlist a fit question. If the programme calls for natural cork, a tin capsule or a stock closure, a US specialist earns its place. If the programme calls for zamak stoppers, ornate liquor cap sets or cylindrical spirits caps at volume, the arithmetic usually points to a zamak foundry. Our comparison of zamac perfume caps covers the material side, and the zamac spirits bottle caps buyer’s guide maps the spirits formats.

How to shortlist: five questions to send each candidate

Whichever region you shortlist, the same five questions still separate a manufacturer from a reseller:

Five question scorecard for shortlisting US spirits closure suppliers
  1. Can I see the production line, the tool room and the decoration process under one business licence?
  2. Who builds the mould, who owns it, and is there a mould maintenance record?
  3. What is your porosity and dimensional control on a first article — and can I have the FAI report?
  4. Is decoration in-house, and what is the full stack, including the barrier layers?
  5. What are tooling time, sample time and mass production time — quoted separately?

The full ten-check version, with red flags, is in our guide on how to vet a zamac cap manufacturer before you send an RFQ. For US-market programmes, pair the shortlist with our overview of closure compliance for wine and spirits — REACH, food-contact scope and child-resistance questions are cheaper to design in than to retrofit. Beyond the US: sourcing zamak closures from the factory floor

US specialists own the closure materials the American wine and spirits trade built its habits on — cork, aluminium, tin. What an Asian zamak foundry owns is the arithmetic of metal: ornate liquor cap sets, cylindrical spirits caps, wine stoppers and neck covers in ZAMAC 3#, with the same FAI discipline, golden-sample control and document pack at a unit cost that leaves room in the launch budget. That is also the trade we have run for 20 years from Dongguan — in-house tooling, die casting, CNC, automatic polishing and plating, sampling in about 15 days, and a sampling fee credited against your first production order.

Dongguan zamak closure factory capabilities from tool room and die casting to plating

Therefore, if your programme mixes formats — a bar-top stopper for the hero SKU, a zamak collar for the gift set — the sensible shortlist is one US specialist for the cork or capsule side and one Asian factory for the metal side. Both lists start with the same five questions.

FAQ

Why these ten “top”?

We ranked them by fit to spirits closure programmes — cork depth, bar-top and capsule capability, US manufacturing or stocking, and verifiable operations — not by revenue. Companies without public closure-relevant information did not make the list, because the list stays verifiable.

Are these companies real, and how current is the information?

All ten are real, operating businesses. We verified details on 2026-10-25 against company websites and trade press, and the figures come as published by the companies themselves.

How is this list different from the 2024 “Top 10 Perfume Bottle Manufacturers in the USA”?

That list covers perfume glass bottles; this one covers spirits closures — corks, T-tops, bar-tops, capsules and screwcaps. The two lists, however, serve different purchase decisions, and the old list remains the starting point for bottle sourcing.

Do US suppliers make zamak caps?

Rarely. The US closure industry works mainly in cork, aluminium and plastic, and zinc-alloy die casting stays concentrated in Asia and Europe. Even DIAM builds its Setop bartop heads in zamak through metal specialists. Therefore, that is the gap an Asian zamak factory fills.

Can an Asian factory serve US spirits brands?

Yes, because the document pack travels with the goods: alloy certification, REACH statement, RoHS declaration, migration testing for food-contact liners, FAI/PPAP and a COC per shipment — the pack described in our compliance guide.

What is the fastest way to compare quotes fairly?

Send all candidates the same drawing package — 2D drawing with tolerances, 3D file, bottle sample, colour target, quantity and destination market — then compare the DFM feedback, not just the price.

Next step

Send the bottle, the closure spec if you have one, the decoration target and the destination market. Our engineers also return DFM feedback and a quotation before we cut any tool.
